What’s the best way to apply Pinstripe tape?
- Completely dry the area with a soft chamois cloth or a lint-free towel or sponge. Decide how much of the tape to apply, peel off the adhesive, and gently (but firmly) press onto desired surface. It is extremely important not to stretch the auto pinstripe tape too much, or the ends of the tape will “pop” and not stick properly.
How do you smooth out decals?
Use a hairdryer to get rid of stubborn bubbles, as heating the decal will soften the adhesive. Plug in the hairdryer. Aim the hairdryer at the decal and heat the decal for one minute. Press the bubbles toward the edges of the decal to deflate them.
Can you clear coat over pinstripe tape?
Yes you can put clear on tape stripes and decals, I’ve done it several times for customers that didn’t want to spend the extra $$$.
How long does vinyl pinstripe last?
Once your pinstripe tape design is on your vehicle, it can last up to 10 years with extreme care, maybe longer. However, do note that high metallic colors are not as durable and tend to last 2 – 5 years.
What is fine line tape?
3M Scotch Fine Line Tape is a polypropylene tape that has a specially processed film backing to allow taping over freshly painted acrylic lacquer or enamel surfaces sooner and with a reduced chance of imprint damage. The plastic film comes with a rubber adhesive and can be used for masking and holding applications.
